A lot of people publish books, let alone cookbooks….or so it seems, right? But in actuality, less than 1% of the world population has published a book. So while it may seem like “everyone” now-a-days is publishing a book, that’s really not the case. And I want to take this time to share why it’s important to support my debut cookbook – The Modern Tiffin – but also why it’s important to support a first time author.
The Modern Tiffin will be published on November 2, 2021.
The book has already been featured in Kitchn, Food & Beverage Magazine, GLAMOUR, Bon Appétit and more!
What do I mean by “support”? I can’t say it anymore bluntly – support means to BUY my book aka PRI-order it! You can do so at any of these stores online:
3 Reasons to support The Modern Tiffin:
I’m going to cut straight to the chase, because I can list out dozens of reasons why you want to buy my book, but I’m narrowing it down to the 3 that I think are the most unique to the book, and quite frankly, cool.
- Portability: everything is portable in book, I.e., I explain step-by-step on how to cook a recipe, package it, and make it accessible for on-the-go life. This leads to less wastage and having bomb food on the road!
- Portioned for 2: that’s right. Every recipe is portioned for 2 in my book and can be scaled up if need be. So no more cooking an entire dinner for 4-6 people, instead cook for yourself and a loved one, or just yourself!
- It’s not Indian: while I may be first generation Indian-American and the cookbook is called The Modern Tiffin, it is not an Indian food cookbook. It’s a true culmination of my life – Indian concepts, ingredients, and ideas weaved into global cuisines based on my life experiences. So basically, it is one of a kind!
One major reason to support a first time author:
An authors first book is powerful enough to determine the trajectory and longterm success of an author. So basically, if The Modern Tiffin does well, I have the potential to write another book with my publisher, be on best seller lists, and build a career as an author. But most important, success as a first time author for me will help shatter the glass ceiling and pave the way for other aspiring authors from different culture and differing dietary approaches. As the world progresses to be more plant-forward and cognizant of client change, it is important to make room for authors of all cultures, backgrounds and diets. So in a nut shell, buying my cookbook will help change the traditional course of the publishing industry.
I hope you take the time to check out my book and spread the word!
