Sorry, I have been missing in action here. Keyword – action. There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes in order to prepare for the publish date for my debut cookbook The Modern Tiffin, tons of brand partnership work, selling my NYC condo (yes, it’s on the market and you can check it out here!), and lastly, trying to make the most of my summer (girl is tryna’ live her live here!). But the most important date to keep in mind from here is 3 months from now – November 2, 2021. The pub date for my debut cookbook The Modern Tiffin.
Did you know that only 1-2% of the world population has published a book? This is according to statistics on Quora and Statista (I promise, I’m not making up some random numbers). And (in addition to crazy statistics) I am the first published author in my entire family (both sides, all sides, any side). So, there is a lot of (self-imposed) pressure to make the most out of my first published book. I probably don’t need to tell you, but the amount of work, sweat, tears, and most importantly, passion that I put into this project to get here is beyond words.
So, when I received the first finished copy of The Modern Tiffin on Friday July 23rd, I didn’t know what to expect. For anyone who knows me, knows that I am anything but emotional. I only cry if I witness some sort of animal abuse, Mufasa dying, or environmental neglect/damage. Never in my life would I imagine crying over a book. But, I guess I can! There are emotions down there inside of me! Just see for yourself:
This feeling that you see in the video is hard to put in words; it’s overwhelming, it’s surreal; it’s amazing; it’s scary – it’s literally everything in one instance.
If my reaction resonates with you in any way or means anything to you, then the one thing you can do to support me as a first time author, female author, person of color author, and just generally someone pursuing their dreams, it’s PRI-ordering my cookbook. That means going to Amazon, B&N, BAM, Target, Indie Bound or Bookshop and placing an order!!
